Protests won't win flag row: UDA boss Street demos are 'only helping dissidents to plot murder'
(Liam Clarke, Belfast Telegraph)
Veteran UDA figure Jackie McDonald has warned loyalist protesters they are not going to win their battle to have the Union flag flying above Belfast City Hall.
The prominent loyalist said protesters need to "hear the truth" that the decision to remove the flag cannot be reversed by their actions.
McDonald's warning comes as a senior police chief said dissidents were taking advantage of the strain of protests on the PSNI.
Their words come amid growing fears over the worsening security situation, underscored by a murder attempt on a police constable and the planting of a viable pipe bomb outside a police station.
