Could the Brighton bomber please shut up?

(by Suzanne Breen, the News Letter)

I'm sick of hearing about Patrick Magee and Jo Berry. I don't know what possesses either of them to play out this cringe-worthy escapade on the public stage.

If the Brighton bomber and the daughter of one of his victims want to meet, that's fine. If they choose to go public about it at the start, that's also reasonable.

But they've been going on and on about it for years now. Why can't they just continue their relationship in private? For 30 years we had a bloody, violent conflict in which many people were killed and injured.

Those on both sides - republican and state - knew exactly what they were doing. All this latter-day introspection is complete tripe. At the time, Magee shed no tears for the Tories he targeted and had he been killed they'd have shed none for him.

For both parties to drone on about it now is false and demeaning. Magee and Berry are perhaps two individuals who are hooked on being the centre of media attention.
