Collusion information workshop held

(Irish News)

Relatives who believe their loved ones were the victims of collusion attended a workshop in Belfast last night (Wednesday) to discuss ways of accessing information about their deaths. 'Open the Files – Unlock the Truth' was organised by the Victims and Survivors Trust (Vast), and was facilitated by Paul O'Connor from the Pat Finucane Centre.

Those who attended the event were offered the opportunity to discuss issues surrounding collusion and to listen to the experiences of others.

Marion Walsh from Vast said relatives have many questions which need to be asked and answered. "With the continuous stream of revelations about security force and loyalist collusion there is intense interest among victims/survivors of the conflict here as to the truth about the cause of their trauma," she said.

"In order to help us in our search for the facts, facilitators from the Pat Finucane Centre agreed to run this preliminary workshop. It is important that as victims/survivors we are afforded such opportunities to share views, pose questions or just listen".
