Welcome to the Newshound. I founded the Newshound in 1996 as an independent "news sifting" Web service for people interested in the Northern Ireland situation. My aim has been to provide comprehensive and objective news coverage of all the various strands of this debate. In addition, there are often links to articles that are relevant to related topics such as Irish-America, religion in Ireland and Britain, and UK and/or Irish constitutional changes.

My original target audience for the site was Irish-America, but over time I came to realize that the Newshound is useful for people in Canada, Australia, mainland Europe, Britain, and Ireland - north and south. I check the online editions of more than 25 newspapers everyday in an effort to find all the best, most relevant articles for the Newshound. However, I do sometimes miss articles and always appreciate it when a reader has found one for me. This is particularly true when the article is from a site that I don't regularly check.

The Newshound also has pages devoted to Irish history, relevant book reviews and a softer news section, News of the Irish. The Newshound also has a bookstore, which includes a wide variety of titles of Irish interest.

For more information or comments, please e-mail me. I am always delighted to hear from Newshound readers and welcome all of your feedback and suggestions. I will reply personally as soon as I can.

Thank you for your continual encouragement and for correcting any omissions I might make.

John Fay
